Question / Help Windows 10 Firewall blocking OBS

Hello,

I have installed OBS. But when I click on the "Start Streaming" button I get the error message: "Failed to connect to server. The connection was blocked. Check your firewall / anti-virus settings to make sure OBS is allowed full internet access." I have tested and it is indeed my firewall that is messing things up. When I completely disable the firewall I can stream. Of cours I don't want my firewall to be completely disabled so this is where my problem begins.. When I add OBS to "Allow apps to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall" it still gives me the error "Failed to connect to server.."

I am familiar with how windows firewall works and I understand how to allow/block apps or ports. But this one just does not want to work! Any help is appreciated!

Make sure Windows thinks your network is a private network (https://i.imgur.com/feRDnHe.png). Also check your outbound firewall rules. Note that if you've updated OBS, you may need to completely remove and re-add it to the Windows firewall list.

Note that with default Windows Firewall settings OBS requires no special configuration to work, so you may want to consider resetting to defaults if you're stuck.

Thank you very much! I did not want to reset the firewall in the first place but it helped! If you could please close this thread.
