Question / Help Why did my 20 minute recording take up 11GB??

So I was trying to record myself drawing something so I opened up OBS and pressed record then 20 minutes in it says that my disk space became full and when I stopped recording to see how big my recording was it said 11GB so I immediately deleted it but I'm still confused as to how it took up that much space like holy hell.

I have no idea how this even happened like is this even normal? Cause even the movies I downloaded didn't go up to 2GB. Was is the 60 FPS? Was it the NV12 Color Format? Was it the MP4 recording format? or was it the 40000 bitrate? Because I just followed these settings from a youtube tutorial so I have no idea what I did wrong.

Without knowing your settings, it's impossible to tell why it's 11GB. So please post a log from that recording session.

11GB for 20 Minutes worth of recording seems reasonable.

FPS doesnt change anything with filesize, it only affects the picture quality.

If you have CBR set to 40000 then you write about 5Mb/s so its roughly 6Gb, but in your case its a bit odd since you have almost double that size so a Logfile would be helpful.

Don't use CBR for recording, especially for recording drawing. Use CRF (CQP/ICQ, it has many names) 23, it will choose the right amount of bitrate for the scene, giving you a filesize that is more reasonable for the work the encoder had to do.

Constant Rate Factor tries to maintain a level of image quality, using as much or as little bitrate as it needs to to maintain that quality. 23 is a good middle ground, as you go lower your filesize will increase, higher of course then means smaller but worse quality.
