Video Freezing Problems with RTSP/RTMPS Stream to YouTube

Hey,

I'm using a Green-Backyard POE IP Bird Camera to stream to YouTube, but I'm running into some issues with the stream sometimes freezing when a bird enters the nest box. The camera is directly connected to my 10/100/1000 POE Switch using direct burial Cat6. It's about 30-40' between the camera and switch, but I do have a 100' cable.

PC Specs:
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • GPU: 3070 Ti (Drivers: 572.82 from Mar. 18th)
  • Storage: 2TB WD BLACK
  • OS: Windows 11 (24H2 Build 26100.3476)

The camera encode settings are:
  • Compression: H.265X
  • Resolution: 720P
  • FPS: 20
  • Bitrate Type: CBR
  • Bitrate: 2181 Kbps
  • I Frame Interval: 2
The OBS settings are:
  • Output
    • Video Bitrate: 2800 Kbps
    • Audio Bitrate: 160
    • Video Encoder: Hardware (NVEC, HVEC)
    • Encoder Preset: P5
    • Audio Encoder: ACC
  • Audio
    • Sample Rate: 48 kHz
    • Channels: Stereo
  • Video
    • Base (Canvas) Resolution: 1280x720
    • Common FPS Value: 30
I am using a VLC Source for the RTSP stream to OBS, since I was getting weird audio issues using the direct RTSP URL via Media Source. I had to save the VLC Network Stream as a Playlist to get it to work, but there might be a different way to do this. Also, the Network Stream has a Network Caching of 1500 ms. In OBS for the VLC there's also a Network Caching of 400 ms. Not sure if I need the one in my Playlist or not.

OBS shows no dropped frames, uses around 1-2% CPU and shows an excellent network connection and a constant 30 FPS.

Here's my latest OBS log file.

For an example of the freezing I am referring to, you can see the issue in this live stream at time index 18:01:30 (on screen clock, not YT index). Not only does it freeze, if completely missed the bird entering the nest box and looking up at the camera.

The camera saves video to a MicroSD card and here's what that video looks like without freezing.

I was originally trying to stream at 1080P, but had the same issue. Maybe if I can fix the issue at 720P I can make similar fixes for 1080P. I have also watched another streamer who uses the WiFi version of my camera and they don't have this issue, as far as I can tell.

I'm sure I probably forgot to provide some info, so just let me know if you need anything else.

Does anyone know how to resolve this freezing issue or if my settings look incorrect?

Thanks
