Valorant lagging and will not capture on OBS

Making my own post because I feel like I've tried everything, and I'm starting to feel defeated and frustrated...

I got a second monitor a couple weeks ago and at first could stream fine albeit some lag was occurring but it was mainly my webcam which is whatever I would just turn it off. However now valorant won't even capture and when I try to start up valorant or open OBS after I've started my frames drop like crazy and a blue loading wheel appears next to my cursor when I'm in lobby.

I'm unsure what to do, I've set both monitors to the same hz, I disable preview on my OBS (not like it's capturing anything anyway..), run OBS as administrator, I've even tried disconnecting my second monitor to see if it was that and the lag and issues still occur. I can stream other games fine and used to stream valorant completely fine in the past with issue maybe some webcam lag but whatever. I've uninstalled and reinstalled both OBS and valorant and nothing has helped :(

These issues happen without even starting stream, simply opening OBS while valorant is open or vice versa is when the problems start. I'm at a complete loss and would appreciate any kind of help!

I am currently having the same problem. Other games work completely fine but the moment I have valorant and obs open at the same time I get the worst lag I've ever seen. This problem is very recent for me since I've been recording valorant like this for YEARS. Not sure what happened. I'll keep looking for a fix.

1. In Windows, we recommend that "Game Mode" be enabled. Game Mode can be enabled via the Windows "Settings" app, under Gaming > Game Mode.
2. Display and Game Capture Sources interfere with each other. NEVER put them in the same scene.

I too had experienced. It stuttered like crazy but managed to solve the issue by unchecking the Use anti-cheat compatibility hook. Hope this helps!

i am having same issue, have you found a solution? I've also reinstalled both software, repaired files, and basically checked every setting but it still doesn't work. it works for my friends though?

I had the same issue, I solved it by deleting the files from the folder C:\ProgramData\obs-studio-hook and installing an older version of OBS; I chose version 30.2.3 which you can find here on their github https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases

Is there a chance that just waiting will fix this issue? Have it on both, my Gaming Notebook and Gaming PC for some weeks now.

Only common thing is: NVIDIA RTX, Valorant Game Account and OBS 31.0.1

As Valorant is not my main game, I don't invest energy in downgrading and just wait?!

Until a fix from Riot games or new certificates signatures compatible with their anticheat are released from OBS you can't use game capture to capture any of their games. Try with window or display capture. Remember display capture should be on it's own separated scene to avoid conflicts with game and window capture methods.

Hi i don’t know if you’re still having issues with this, but i was having this problem too and on this same day i seen your post i just happened to fix the problem

So in scene or whatever you name scene to displayed your game on go into that source. Once you do that just delete game capture and make sure you have display capture. And just set the display onto the monitor that you’re trying to stream on. Hopefully this helps
