Hi, so recently when recording Need For Speed Heat, I was getting this error very often. I thought my hardware was fine, I know as a fact the hard drive in question is fine, however I wasn't sure if it was some software bug or just my settings. I have a full formatted (not quick format as most people use) 500GB WD Black hard drive which was not in use for a good few months. Came with my laptop as I ordered it, and immediately swapped it out with an SSD for boot drive. That is the story of the hard drive, basically in new condition, barely used. 465 GB formatted, the normal capacity after formatting. I have it formatted in NTFS. It is connected via a USB 3.0 port (in an enclosure). I started recording to that hard drive (in a folder of course) and first time it failed was when it hit around 465 MB (yes MB), second time was around 2.48 GB. I have double checked the formatted capacity in disk management, the partition is the entire size of the drive. I scanned it for errors, no errors. Details of my encoding setup is in my log file that I am providing that is related to this. My hardware is perfectly fine, or so I thought... I am making an educated guess here, that perhaps the actual USB enclosure is the problem. For those of y'all having this kind of issue, the problem might not be the hard drive, but the actual enclosure (USB > SATA adapter is basically at fault). Since this is not only a hard drive but also a WD Black, I had a feeling power may actually be the problem here. I don't really have any tools to be able to check how much power the USB enclosure is taking, but I am guessing it's more than 10W, which poses a problem for a regular laptop's USB Type A port. With that being said, I am 100% sure my settings are fine, my hardware is fine, it's just the enclosure that keeps crashing. I will test if it also happens if I switch the two drives since I also have an external SSD game drive. If the game crashes (because game drive will be connected to the suspected enclosure), it then would be a enclosure problem, but if the error pops up again, then I have to assume it is a power limit with the USB port (which is pretty generous considering USB Type A spec is usually 5W, and it is already doing 10W to handle the hard drive)
