Question / Help Presenter View in OBS Studio?

Hello everyone,

I started using OBS as part of my effort to make classroom teaching to special needs children more engaging. I've used Microsoft Powerpoint since the beginning and I thought OBS would be as straight forward as connecting a hdmi cable to a projector and entering Presenter View mode on Powerpoint. I must be missing out something as my projector shows the whole screen (including the controls) despite me using Studio mode.

Is there a way for my classroom projector to show only the right-side window, while I am able to control the 'scenes' in Studio mode? Appreciate your help!
I am using a macbook pro 2016, MacOS High Sierra, and a basic 2000 lumens Epson projector connected via hdmi cable from the macbook.

I have 2 displays on my mac. They are not set to mirror each other, so I can drag windows to and from either display. One of these would be the HDMI output to your projector, the other would be your Macbook Pro built-in display. If both displays show the exact same contents at all times, you may need to turn off "Mirror mode" in System Preferences->Displays menu so they have different contents.

When running OBS, if I right click on the main OBS video window in normal mode (I think it's called the "Program" panel), I get a menu that includes a "Fullscreen Projector" submenu. This menu lists my two displays. If I select one of them, I get a fullscreen window on the display I selected that include only the contents of the program window, with no UI elements. You would select the HDMI output of your projector here.

In Studio mode, the right hand panel is the "Program" output, the left is the "Preview" output. Right clicking on either would left me send them to different monitor outputs (if I had a third output active).

Hope that helps. It's a little confusing.

Thank you Michael, I got a good grasp of the second and third paragraphs. I hope you can elaborate on what you mean by having 2 displays on your mac. Are they two browser windows or do you mean you have an external monitor attached?

Sorry for the confusion. I have two external monitors attached, and run my MacBook Pro closed - so the built in panel is disabled. :)
