OBS won't stop crashing after 10 minutes

Hello, I'm fairly new within the pc space as I built my first pc at the beginning of the year, but I'm reading other forums and I don't really understand if other people are having the same problem as me.

Obs will never crash when I boot up the application, but after some time (about 10-30 minutes) obs will crash. Sometimes the obs application will crash on it's own, other times the application blue screens my pc and forces it to restart. The crash will say something that correlates with my memory.

libobs version: 29.1.3 (64-bit)
Windows version: 10.0 build 22621 (release: 22H2; revision: 1928; 64-bit)

Log Upload: https://obsproject.com/logs/yNwkFKJ2zwnyQvX0
Latest Crash Report: https://obsproject.com/logs/Jrb54kVA8LfvQWfb

If you have any idea of what's going on, could you let me know what I could possibly do?

Hello, I'm still having the same problem with crashing. Ive tried reinstalling OBS, updating every possible driver, but I am still getting "obs-studio\bin\64bit\avcodec-60.dll" for the reason why it keeps crashing.

Could someone please help me.

Wiped my whole pc and had to start over again because I was reading all the forums and ended up installing something that i shouldn't have installed. Now I'm pretty much back to where I was when I sent the first post and I am still getting the same exact crashes.

This is the 3rd post I sent and the only response I got was "Idk". I don't want to sound rude either, but I don't see any other posts with someone replying like that.

Could someone please tell me what I could do to fix this problem?

Thank you!

You have a 3060TI, not a 4090, not much meat on the bone for what you are attempting to do. Try dialing it back to 60FPS on all monitors, see if it stops crashing.

This is known to cause issues & you should double check any plugins you have installed. Make sure they have been vetted for the version of OBS you are using.

Encoding settings look OK, just change Multipass to qres & uncheck Visual Tuning.

Hello, I changed the FPS on all monitors and its still crashing. I don't play games on my computer as I have a capture device for my game console. Would having too many browser sources active be a problem? They're only overlays and alerts that's coming from streamelements. The only plugin that I have on OBS is SteamDeck. The audio plugins are coming from the Wave Link application.

Also, my GPU processing barely goes over 30-40% even when my monitors are switched to 120hz. For the most part, my GPU stays under 30%. My RAM reaches around 40%. My CPU rarely reaches 10%.

All of this is happening without even recording or streaming.

It could be SE but the Nvidia FX would be the next thing that I would remove. If it still crashes, SE would be next to go.

Also, did you check the Streamdeck plugin?

When you re-installed everything, did you install the same Nvidia driver as previously installed? I'm still stuck on 522.30 by choice as it just works so I have no idea if that driver you're using is any good.

I've had this same problem before installing the newest driver, which just came out yesterday 7/18. The driver version is 536.67.

I did have some videos that came with a overlay pack that I was playing (like transitions videos... starting soon screen, brb screen). I noticed on the crash report, it has said "mp_media_thread (Crashed)". And when i went to check back what was freezing, it was one of the videos. So I removed all the videos I had on OBS. Ill see if that helps too.

Yeah, updating drivers can be a crap shoot.

Good catch, although it still appears that the AVC Codec is crashing.

Did you ever have CoreAudio installed on this PC? Just checking, as it's not installed now.

Probably nothing to do with the crashing, but can this device actually capture @ 120FPS?

Duh, I missed this, looking at too many logs but disable HDR on the 1440p monitor.

I'm having the capture card outputting 1440p 120fps from my xbox to the monitor, but it is capturing at 1440p 60fps.

I did notice I had 2 options for audio at first in the settings, but now it is only showing me FFmpeg AAC after I wiped my pc. I'm not too sure if I'm suppose to have that so I didn't install anything I wasn't too sure about.

Gotcha, I saw a thread recently where CoreAudio was installed on a system & then removed. Pretty sure OBS was crashing while it was uninstalled if I remember correctly.

Any luck after the media sources were removed or is it still crashing?

Actually no, OBS would not crash with the coreaudio modules uninstalled. It would just fail to fall-back to ffmpeg AAC if using advanced output.
