Microphone sounds weird when using the "Noise suppression" filter

Hey there,

I've recently been setting up OBS for my video recordings. I've got the Rode Videomic Go plugged into my PC for audio. Without any audio filters, the microphone picks up quite a lot of noise & rustle in the background.

While watching some tutorials, people recommended that I use audio filters (which I then did), but the problem is that with the "Noise suppression" filter turned on, my microphone sounds really weird (like I'm under water). I've heard that this might come from applying the filter to an audio source that picks up different kinds of audio, but I've only got my microphone set up as audio and nothing else.

Do you guys know what the issue might be here?

Yeah I kind of have the same issue. I’d like to know what it is too. When I talk or playback videos of me talking, there is a faint swirly type sound in the background. I assume it’s gotta be a product of one of the filters but I’m not sure which

I have the same thing even when setting it to 0db. I've turned it off and just tweaked noise gate

Yes, I have same issue but much worse as recording an organ and choir. It sounds terrible. Any ideas on how to reduce background noise and hiss but not creating the swirling sound would be appreciated.

Foam mic cover
Pop filter and mic cover
Windscreen muff
Mic screen filter
Solid foam ball (cut the inside out and wrap the mic around it for isolation)

try problem with ground noise or white noise , the filters not working , with high end microphones. answer - at the bottom is the Audio Mixer window. when your mic shows up. right click and Add the filters there. some filters work some dont.
