how to record video on computer screen?

hi there,
I've got Windows 10 on my Dell computer desktop and I need to record a series of videos that are showing on the screen and don't know how to do that. On this site, I click on the Windows icon and then I click on 'download installer' and it downloads to my computer but I can't do anything with it because it's just a screen pop up that asks where I want to save it to. It doesn't open and install anything.

This comes up a lot, often from people who don't understand copyright, and think that they can just grab whatever they see and use it however they want. We don't support that.

If you can prove that what you're doing is legal, with enough details that *we* can verify that (don't just claim that it is), then you might get some good help.
