Fire TV Stick issue

Hi, I was hoping someone has advice for me. I have seen YouTube videos on using your Fire TV on the laptop by plugging it into a video capture device. I have followed the instructions exactly according to the YouTube videos. I select USB device video and I see the fire stick starting up for a a few seconds, then the screen goes completely black. I would appreciate any help regarding this.

hey, I have the same issue. have you found any fix for it? I basically did everything the same as you but to no result.

It's possible that the TV stick switches to encrypted video, after the startup splash screen to show that it's working, and your capture device doesn't do encryption. Probably a DRM agreement that the TV stick has, given the intended content.

Thank you, I guess that's a possibility. I did purchase the same capture device that was recommended in the videos.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I've been using OBS Studio with a video capture device and an Amazon Fire Stick for most of this year without any issues. However, over the past month, something seems to have changed, and now I'm encountering the same issue as you. The settings in OBS Studio are correct. When I connect the Fire Stick, the logo appears, I hear the startup sound, but then it suddenly cuts out, leaving me with a black screen. It's incredibly frustrating, especially since it worked perfectly before. Do you have any ideas on how to fix the issue?

How do updates work on the Fire Stick? Are they automatic and transparent? If so, then it may have had one that does what I described, and this is the only way you'd know.

Going to try a HDMI splitter. The issue is likely as you say, encryption. High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) blocks video capture cards and OBS software.
