I'm planning to use OBS to digitize old VHS videos. I'm running Video, Audio Left, and Audio Right out of the VCR using a three pronged RCA cable into an AV to HDMI adapter, and then to an HDMI to USB video capture device. The video and audio in OBS looks and sounds fine until I press "Start Recording", at which point the video is fine but the audio begins to start clipping. The resulting MP4 has clipping audio when played on a variety of other devices. I have OBS running on an Acer Aspire S7 laptop which is running Windows 10. The fact that everything is fine until I begin recording points away from it being something external to the laptop. I've tried many different settings, but I'm unable to find the issue. Any ideas?
