Bad audio in headphones when I open OBS

I have wireless headphones that I use to watch videos or listen to music, they sound pretty cool, but when I open OBS the audio sounds bad, as if it were canned. I don't know what to do.

In OBS settings→Audio, set the mic from default (or your headphones mic device) to disabled. If left configured in OBS, OBS will try to initialize the mic on startup, so your headphones will switch to voip mode, which is much less quality.

In this case, you have to either live with the quality switch or get a wired headset or get a wireless headset that explicitly doesn't switch to lower quality voip mode (these usually come with their own USB dongle).

I just registered here to thank you specifically for asking this question on a public forum so I wouldn't have to, and of course @koala for the correct answer to my issue. YES! - It seems less common for people to leave notice when something worked for them, and personally I know the hassle of managing a forum environment - so, please, keep this up! Much appreciated!

I know im mad late to the post, but if you go into windows settings for the microphone and/or headset, and disable the option for allowing windows or applications to take exclusive use of the device, which is set to default by windows 10 and 11, it will fix the issue as well.
