For some reason, we get distorted audio on OBS why?

- I was using voice-meter and it showed red on the rode mic which i was recording
- I had 2 instances of OBS open recording rode
- I was also streaming to loom using voice meter

You mean, meter completely full? On a raw mic? If so, then that would be clipping. Turn the mic down, *before* it gets to voicemeeter. You can't fix it by turning it down later in the chain.

If turning it down there, makes it too quiet at the end, then you can turn it back up later on to compensate. This whole concept is called "gain structure". You can google that to see a TON more on that topic.

when i record it on the rode directly there is no issue.
when on obs there is issue.
