Hi I have a couple issues. I have the same Mac as you. I purchased a capture card which includes HDMI OUT, HDMI IN, USB 3.0, LINE IN, MIC IN, & AUDIO OUT (earphone).
So my setup is HDMI IN (TV) to HDMI OUT (capture card). HDMI OUT (Xbox) to HDMI IN (capture card). USB 3.0 (capture card) to USB 3.0 (MacBook). LINE IN (capture card) to USB (MacBook). Mic IN (Not sure, capture card came with a dual 3.5mm adapter. Maybe goes from capture card to Xbox controller?) AUDIO OUT (I just attached my gaming headset to the to audio out.
I use OBS and use 1280x720 @30fps.
I started recording and my game shooting audio was not in sync with the movements in game. I was able to hear the in-game chat through the recording and my headset. However, I could not speak through my mic since it’s attached to the capture card. Nothing is attached to my controller too. The recording seems very choppy and I tried to delete stuff on my Mac to make it faster but I think it’s best it can do.
