Audio is cut off at the start and end of a clip

The moment I press "start recording", I expect to hear my voice immediately during the whole video clip until I hit "stop recording". But my voice delays at the start and also my last word in the recording gets cut off midway in the exported video. I did make sure I said the last word completely before stopping recording, but OBS still cuts the last word off midway.

That's what "leader" and "trailer" are for. Hit the button early to start, and late to stop. If you need to trim it, use a video editor afterwards.

Technology is not magic. Nor can it read your mind. Things have to happen to be ready to record, that are expensive to keep active all the time. And the recording process is not instant either, but a pipeline. When you stop, whatever's still in the pipeline gets thrown away.
