Audio fades in at beginning of recordings

When I record videos using OBS, whether I'm using a microphone or playing back system audio, the audio fades in over the first couple of seconds, which usually means the first few words I say (when on mic) are unintelligible. When using system audio, if there are sounds at the beginning of the recording, those fade in too.

It seems to be most noticeable when the sound comes after some silence if that helps.

Is there some OBS setting that I'm missing that is causing this? I've tried various options in the Windows audio settings and control panel.

My workaround to date has been to simply say a bunch of test phrases when I start recording, to get past the fade in.

I don't get the same fade-in issue when using Windows Voice Recorder or Audacity, so I suspect that it might not be a Windows setting, but I can't say for sure.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what was in that screenshot, but there is a checkbox to "Enable audio enhancements" which seems to cause problems. Perhaps you want to uncheck this option. In my case I was able to find the checkbox here on Windows 11:
Sound settings > Advanced > More sound settings > Recording > Microphone > Properties > Advanced > Signal Enhancements
