Audio dropouts each 7-8 minute

Hey all,

I need some help with OBS.

2 weeks ago I've got my hands on external USB audio card - Behringer UMC202HD and since then I'm trying to find a solution to record dj sessions mixed with scene animations.
My studio pc specs:
Ryzen 5 3600 cpu
32GB ram
gtx 1050 ti oc gpu
samsung 970 evo plus m.2 ssd
Audio settings:
48hz, 24bit audio, 128 samples on each device.

The thing is I'm getting audio dropouts in OBS (and Audacity) each 7-8 minute when recording a dj set with the external audio interface from a mixer. There must be something wrong with my obs settings because I am not having issue when recording with Ableton Live.
I've tested with different settings (without ableton; with VoiceMeeter re-routing; with reastream-standalone VST) with the same outcome.

Really looking forward to solve this, otherwise I need to use Adobe Premiere with the audio from Ableton.

Sry, forget to attach the Log files. The first dropout happened at 7:22, and the second dropout at 15:10.

That sounds like a hardware or driver issue, especially if it's happening in both Audacity & OBS.

Tho the same, but I'm not getting any dropouts with Ableton. This week I've even updated the bios version of my pc, the Realtek audio drivers, updated to the latest Nvidia studio graphics driver (even installed Asynchronous Audio FIlter).

Forget to mention I'm using PCI slot with Elgato hd60Pro because I want to use a goPro camera.

Run a complete log through the analyzer, let it pick off the low hanging fruit, plenty there to address. I still think something is up before the audio is getting to the apps.

You'll need to re-boot your PC when you disable HAGS. Scenes should have only (1) Game/Display/Window Capture. Can cause interference.

After they're done, run a test encode & then hit the analyzer again.

I see, well, these are old scenes/source settings. I think I've used to record my ps4 with elgato. Will make sure to delete unused scenes and devices from the studio setup. Regarding the Hags - ok will try that.

Yeah, get rid of everything you no longer need. I've been going through the log Desktop Audio is lagging, Virual Audio devices are failing.....

Update 1.23.1 is available for the Advanced Scene Switcher.

You'll save some bits & get a better recording using CQP rate control. CQP 18, adjust as needed. Disable B Frames & Visual Tuning too.

Not sure what mobo you have, but mine is a Asus Z690. They released a audio driver a some time ago that eliminates that Sonic Studio BS. I used to get some minor buffering here & there but since I installed that new driver my PC has not lagged any audio at all. I still keep waiting to see something pop up in the log but it never happens.

Okay I'm back for testing.

My mobo is Asus Prime b450m-a and the audio driver is Realtek audio driver V6.0.8955.1. Before I had newer different drivers but with the new BIOS version I was hitting BSOD - Clock watchdog timeout.

Have you tried the Asus audio driver for your mobo? I've never installed the OEM driver & the driver I'm using is the only update I've done in 1.5 years. If there is a version that disables Sonic Studio, that's the one you want to get.

If you've made any updates, upload a log.

I've recorded another session with these new settings:

Windows Visual Tuning settings turned off
B Frame 0
CQP 18
HOGS disabled
Unused /old scenes removed

Will check the video file for anything irregular like dropouts.

Regarding the realtek studio driver - will take a look.

I don't know about this, I would remove it while testing. If the problem persists after it's gone, there's something else going on with your system or audio routing.

What "-movflags frag_keyframe+empty_moov" flag means?

When encoding video with FFMPEG I am using -movflags frag_keyframe+empty_moov - I found it somewhere on the net - and it allows me to get mp4 video stream (without it I get Could not write header for

All sample rates match, recording was clean. I did see some devices failing to start. The audio driver specific to the board should help, I think things will speed up on the audio side as well. Look at the stats on the bottom of the middle log. The audio is slow, it should be faster.

I'm using the realtek audio driver from the asus motherboard webpage. I think there is no Sonic Studio enabled with this drive package.

The recent 2 drivers released this May caused me BSOD, but they are not available in the asus mobo driver page.
version 6.0.9517.1 - according to driver booster.

After changing to CQP 18 & B Frame 0, I'm having more audio dropouts:

Btw, why the realtek driver is handing the audio? I've re-routed the audio from Ableton via reaStream vst plugin.

Yeah, there is no driver specific for that board. That's odd, sorry about that.

Eliminate the Ableton & just use the on-board audio, test.

Okay, I've disabled the Ableton audio and added the behringer line in directly to OBS (lowered to -1db too).

I think it's not from Ableton, but something from the encoder (1 drop per 2 minutes that's a lot) or B Frame 0 or because of the recording format.
