Audio Breaking for Mic every 10 seconds

Hello Everyone,

I've tried a variety of things to resolve my microphone audio issues to no avail. At first I thought it may be a networking issue, however when I record in OBS straight to desktop, this still happens. I notice if I restart OBS and record I may not have the issue for a few minutes, but then it will start. I record hour long videos in OBS and its killing me to record the video, hear okay audio for the first few minutes and then the rest of video has the mic audio breaking up every few seconds. I literally cannot post my content :(

I changed the sample rate for audio in OBS to 44.1 kHz because when I got to sound settings and go to the advanced tab for my microphone it states 4 channel, 24 bit, 44100 Hz (Studio Quality). I read somewhere on a Reddit post that changing the decay rate to Slow (Type II PPM) would help, so I did this as well. I increased the prioritization of OBS in my task manager to HIGH.

With OBS, my game (Path of Exile 2), Opera Web Browser opened and running simultaneously AND recording, my GPU is running around 70%, CPU @ 20%, memory @ 66%.

I've Googled and tried just about every option, so I'm guessing there may be some additional config settings I'm missing or something else I am overlooking. Really appreciate any assistance I can get. I'm happy to provide additional details if necessary.

Setup
Interface: Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD Audiophile 4x4, 24-Bit/192 kHz USB Audio/MIDI Interface with Midas Mic Preamplifiers
Microphone: Audio-Technica AT4040 Cardioid Condenser Microphone

Thank you so much!

Hi there,

Not sure if anyone will see this post, but I wanted to leave this here in case it helps anyone. The built in noise suppressor with OBS was not working as I wanted it to, so I downloaded and loaded Blue Lab Audio Denoiser as a fix. While the mic did sound great, I discovered this was the culprit.

This addon was the reason for the mic seeming to break up every few seconds. To test whether or not one of your plugins is calling mic breaking audio issues, in the Audio Mixer section of OBS, click the three dots next to your microphone output and select filters. If you don't have any filters, then this doesn't apply to you.

If you have a filters here that you have applied, you may click the eye icon next to the filter to disable the filter without deleting it. Now test recording in OBS with each filter disabled one at a time, until you discover the culprit.

BL Denoiser is a great free de-noiser plugin, but I suspect certain audio plugins aren't very compatible with OBS, so if using OBS long term is your goal, you may want to invest some money into the big label plugins for your EQ, denoiser, limiter, etc. This will most likely be my goal moving forward.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Cheers
