Additional URL for media source

Hello.
I have 4 IP cameras as media sources.
Does it make sense to add the "URL for preview" field to the source settings or does the preview not overload the CPU? The preview URL will be of lower quality than the main URL.

It would not reduce CPU usage. The CPU usage of a media source comes from decoding the video. If you had a low quality preview, you would still have to decode the regular-quality video for the encode. Adding another URL for a preview would just add to the CPU usage since it's another video that needs to be decoded.

Thanks for the explanation.

In this case much less resources will be consumed, right? Maximum two streams of high quality at the same time.

No. The scenes you've marked as "480p" are still decoding the video at Full HD, even though they are smaller. Again, adding additional decodes on top of the HD decodes would only increase CPU usage, not decrease.
