Evening all, I just need a bit of advice really as I’m new to all of this,

Okay firstly I have 2 PCs

1 is a gaming pc and the other is a streaming pc.

The gaming pc runs at a resolution of 2560x1440 at 144hz

The streaming pc is a 1080p 60hz monitor.

The Capture Card is the AverMedia 4K Internal One..... GC457 I think

How do I set up OBS Studio? Is my base canvas resolution on the 1080p monitor set to 1440p because that’s what I’m playing at and then the capture card set to the same?

Or is OBS set to 1920x1080 and then the capture card set to the same?

Any help would be amazing :-) thank you

Up to you.

If one had no restrictions on computing power or bandwidth, you would set canvas resolution to be the native resolution of your largest source, and then scale down (if needed) to the desired output resolution.

Best quality would be achieved by scaling nowhere.

Best compromise is scaling as few times as possible.

So you could try setting OBS on the streaming machine to a canvas resolution of 1440p and the capture card to that same resolution, scale output to 1080p if you want, and see how it goes.

Brilliant, I just wasn’t sure because I’m capturing a 1440p source and projecting it to a 1080p monitor at 1440p I thought it might of caused issues of some sorts but I’ll deffo try it
